Bobbie Gale, vice president of media and communicationsat Linkin Park's label, Warner Brothers Records, confirmed to USA TODAY that Bentley's verified account, @TalindaB, was hacked and said the underlying security issue 'is being dealt with.'
The tweets, which began just after midnight, alleged that Bentley had been unfaithful to Bennington, whom she married in 2011 and with whom she had three children.
Within the hour, @TheAnonJournal claimed via Twitter that they had removed the offensive posts.
'We took care of it,' they wrote, offering their 'sincerest condolences' to Bentley.
Gale did not identify who actually removed the false posts.
Bennington's body was discovered Thursday morning in his Los Angeles-area home. On Friday, Brian Elias, a spokesman for the county coroner's office, confirmed the 41-year-old singer hanged himself from a bedroom door.

“I will continue to honor Chester and continue my life’s mission to make his passing not in [vain],” Talinda wrote, before sending a special message to those who can relate to her experience.
