Quark XPress 9 is not supported under El Capitan. You'll have to upgrade to at least Quark 10. And that's a limited fix as Quark released a patch they normally wouldn't have to allow QXP 10 to run under El Capitan. They typically support what are the two most recent releases of QXP for each OS. So for Quark 9 (if I have this right), that official support would have been Mavericks and Mountain Lion. Quark 2015 is the only version officially supported under El Capitan.

Quark 2015 (with all of the updates for it applied) runs nicely under El Capitan. It's also much faster as it's the first fully 64 bit version of QXP.
